On Sunday, the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will face off in a “must win” matchup. As of right now, both teams sit at 6-7 and are right in the middle of the NFC playoff race. With a win, the Packers can remain in the seventh playoff seed. There are three teams in the NFC South battling for the title: New Orleans Saints, Atlanta Falcons, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
As the Buccaneers attempt to keep pace in their own division, they will have to do so without a veteran Super Bowl Champion.
Packers Will Not Have To Face Off Against Super Bowl Champion William Gholston When The Buccaneers Come To Lambeau
Greg Auman of Fox Sports reported that Carlton Davis and William Gholston will not be participating in Sunday’s contest. Additionally, Bowles stated Vita Vea, Chris Godwin, Ryan Neal, and the rest of the players on Thursday’s injury report would be game day decisions.
According to CBS Sports:
Gholston will miss his first game since 2017 as he nurses a knee injury he sustained in Week 14 at Atlanta. In his place, Patrick O’Conner could see an uptick in snaps on the defensive line.
This loss will certainly impact Tampa Bay’s defense as they try to slow down a Green Bay passing attack that has started to catch fire, even if they stumbled at times against the New York Giants.
Jordan Love and company could be without Christian Watson, Aaron Jones, Dontayvion Wicks, and Jayden Reed (although Wicks and Reed claim to be ready). Sunday’s matchup will truly be a test of “next man up” for both teams.
