Walking Dead’s Steven Yeun continues to make headlines with his success

Steven Yeun, the cast, and crew of the Netflix original Beef, did an outstanding job in the compelling series based on a road rage incident experienced by showrunner Lee Sung Jin. The series received three nominations at the 2024 Golden Globes, all of which were won. Yeun picked up his first Golden Globe for Best Actor in best-limited series, anthology series, or motion picture made for television.

Yuen came against some pretty fierce competition in this category. He was nominated along with Matt Bomer for Fellow Travelers, David Oyelowo in Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Jon Hamm for his role in Fargo’s fifth season, Sam Clafin in Daisy Jones & the Six, and Woody Harrelson, who starred in White House Plumbers.

In the series, Yeun portrays Danny Cho, who, after a road rage incident, continues on a path where his anger begins to consume every aspect of his life. His co-star Ali Wong, who also won a Golden Globe for her performance, plays Amy Lau, the woman who was the second party in the road rage incident.

People reports that during his acceptance speech, Yeun honored his wife, Joana Pak, calling her his strength while also thanking the cast and crew of the Netflix series.

“”I’m just so thankful. I’m just the recipient of a long line of compassion and love and protection and goodwill, so I appreciate this,” he continued before thanking his wife. “Joana, I love you. You are my strength.””

Joana Pak owns Jo Pakka Photography, where she is an in-demand freelance photographer. In 2009, she met Yeun in Chicago while she attended Columbia College. When Yeun was cast in The Walking Dead, the couple continued in a long-distance relationship, which, luckily for them, turned out well, and they married in 2016. The couple have two children.
