“I can’t say the when of it because I guess people will kill me,” EP Scott M. Gimple said before hinting at what’s to come.
Scott M. Gimple has hinted at what fans can expect from the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon without giving away too much.
Speaking to ComicBook, Gimple, who serves as executive producer and Chief Content Officer for The Walking Dead universe, said showrunner David Zabel is “working hard” on new episodes with stars Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride. “I’m very worried to say too much because I have the finale in my mind, so I’m not going to go that far with it. It’s a beautiful season, an intense season,” he explained before likening Daryl Dixon to “an indie French horror movie.”

Following McBride’s departure from the originally intended “Daryl & Carol” spinoff, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will see the actor reprise her role as Carol Peletier in Season 2, which aptly features the subtitle “The Book of Carol.” While fans have to wait a little longer to see the characters reunite, McBride did make a cameo appearance in the Season 1 finale “Coming Home.”
Melissa McBride Reunites with Norman Reedus In The Book of Carol
“It was always the hope and the desire that we would get Melissa onto the show in Season 1, in whatever version she was ready to do,” Zabel told ComicBook following the finale in 2023. “That was always what I wanted to do and what everybody wanted. Norman wanted it, [Gimple] wanted it, we all wanted it,” the showrunner continued.
“So it was just a matter of working out what the show was going to be and then seeing how we could include her because we love the character, and we love Melissa, and we love the dynamic of Daryl and Carol together. So from the point where I started participating on the show, that was always the conversation,” Zabel added.
