The Mandalorian and The Last of Us are two of the shows that have been nominated as 2023’s Most In-Demand Series.
According to a press release on the Global Demand Awards website, the organization listed The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, two shows starring Pedro Pascal, as part of the finalists for the most sought after television series this year. Other series on the list include Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, and One Piece.
These nominations come as both The Mandalorian and The Last of Us have had seasons debut that were watched by millions of fans around the world. The Last of Us’ first season opened to critical acclaim, with some calling the new HBO show the best series in years. Meanwhile, The Mandalorian Season 3 didn’t get quite as good of reviews as its previous two seasons, but many critics appeared to be relatively pleased with the final product. The Mandalorian Season 3 received an 85% critics score and 51% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, whereas The Last of Us receieved a 96& and 89% in the same categories.
The Mandalorian Season 4 is ‘Getting Ramped Up’
Another actor who plays the Mandalorian, Brendan Wayne, recently revealed on social media that work on Season 4 is “getting ramped up.” Wayne plays the Mandalorian/Din Djarin for the majority of the character’s scenes when his helmet his on, as was the case for the entirety of season 3. Rumors previously suggested that filming on the new season would begin this fall, but the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes delayed the production. Filming is now expected to begin shortly following the end of the strikes.
It’s currently unclear as to whether Pedro Pascal will physically appear in The Mandalorian Season 4. The Chilean-born American actor only provided his voice for season 3, as Din Djarin never removed his helmet in the eight new episodes. Pascal was reportedly filming The Last of Us at the same time as the production of The Mandalorian Season 3, which could explain why he wasn’t in it at all. Pascal’s schedule continues to get busier, as he’s set to star in the Gladiator sequel directed by Ridley Scott as well as filming The Last of Us Season 2. He’s also reportedly been cast as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic in the MCU’s Fantastic Four.
