The Marvel Cinematic Universe lost its first character when Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Endgame. While there are no more planned Iron Man movies for the MCU, an exciting fan trailer imagines a perfect story for RDJ to return in an Iron Man 4.

Cinematic Pro Studio released a fan trailer that imagines a touching story for Iron Man 4, uniting Peter Parker and Morgan Stark for the first time.

RDJ’s Tony Stark served as Peter’s mentor in the MCU, which makes the Iron Man 4 fan trailer’s choice to revolve around Peter teaming up with Tony’s daughter, Morgan, to bring him back to life through technology very emotional. Morgan has been absent from the MCU since debuting in Avengers: Endgame, and a possible Iron Man 4 would serve as the perfect project to bring her back in.

How Iron Man Can Still Return To The MCU

With some of the best movies in the MCU including Tony Stark, and Phase 4 — the first without the hero — being the universe’s most controversial so far, making Iron Man 4 would get back some of the audience that Marvel has lost recently. With the Multiverse Saga in full effect, RDJ could come back as an Iron Man variant, or perhaps a new actor could play Stark, with Tom Cruise a fan-favorite for a multiverse version of Iron Man. The main Tony could also return through time travel, which he invented in the MCU, bringing the tech full circle.

As happened in the comics and the Iron Man 4 trailer shows, Tony Stark could also return to the MCU through artificial intelligence. Ironheart or Armor Wars could reveal that Tony’s consciousness was saved as an AI when he died, allowing him to interact with other MCU characters and operate new Iron Man armors to help the Avengers. With a recent report claiming that Marvel Studios is considering a new movie with the original six Avengers, which would bring Black Widow and Iron Man back from the dead, the possibilities are endless.

If Downey were to return as Iron Man for a new Avengers movie, then Iron Man 4‘s chances would skyrocket. While the possibility might be exciting, RDJ has one important condition to return as Iron Man. According to the actor, he would only play Tony Stark again if there were “a super compelling argument and a series of events that made it obvious.” With the MCU currently facing a series of issues, it stands to be seen if RDJ would want to come put out the fires with Iron Man 4, though judging by his comment, only a really strong idea that honored the character would convince him to return.
