  • Captain Liam Shaw, initially disliked by Star Trek fans, became more popular after revealing his tragic backstory as a survivor of the Borg’s Wolf 359 massacre.

Star Trek: Picard season 3’s breakout star, Todd Stashwick, shares a funny behind-the-scenes photo and video of him playing Captain Liam Shaw. Stashwick initially believed Star Trek fans would loathe Shaw, who was cold and rude to Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Captain Will Riker (Jonathan Frakes). But a funny thing happened as Picard season 3 continued, and fans came around to Shaw, especially after Liam revealed his tragic backstory as a survivor of the Borg’s Wolf 359 massacre of Starfleet in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

On Twitter/X, Todd Stashwick shared a pic of Captain Liam Shaw, phaser in hand, sitting in the USS Titan-A’s center seat, as well as a video of Shaw on the bridge with Admiral Picard and Captain Riker. It’s an apt reminder that, despite a few people taking command, Liam Shaw was the actual Captain of the Titan until his death in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 9. Check out Stashwick’s post below:

Last week, Todd Stashwick also shared Screen Rant‘s article about fans launching a Star Trek: Picard season 3 rewatch campaign in hopes of showing Paramount+ the rampant interest in Picard‘s proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy, with Terry Matalas as showrunner. Check out that post below:

Todd Stashwick’s Liam Shaw Will Return If Star Trek: Legacy Gets Made

There’s a plan to bring back Shaw… somehow.

Despite Captain Liam Shaw’s death in Star Trek: Picard season 3, Todd Stashwick’s ex-grease monkey from Chicago will return if Star Trek: Legacy gets madePicard season 3 showrunner Terry Matalas confirmed he has an “amazing” way to bring Shaw back so that he’d be part of the potential Legacy spinoff. Picard season 3 left off with a clear setup for Star Trek: Legacy, with Captain Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) commanding the USS Enterprise-G, but there is definite room for Liam Shaw’s comeback, however it would happen.

Shaw’s underwhelmed reaction to receiving a bottle of Chateau Picard kicked off a running joke in Star Trek: Picard season 3 that nobody likes Admiral Picard’s family wine.

Todd Stashwick and the cast and crew had a great deal of fun making Star Trek: Picard season 3, and the audience’s enthusiastic reception proved the worth of their work. Obviously, Stashwick would love to return as Shaw in Star Trek: Legacy, although there has been no indication Paramount+ will develop the spinoff. Fans will continue to stream Star Trek: Picard season 3 and campaign for Star Trek: Legacy to be greenlit so that Todd Stashwick can bring Captain Liam Shaw back for more wisecracking adventures.
