Mike Tyson’s legendary career saw him share the ring with a high number of quality heavyweights, but who was the best fighter he ever faced?
One of boxing’s biggest ever names, Tyson’s incredible rise in the 1980s saw him recognised as one of boxing’s most ferocious fighters as he destroyed many top boxers on his way to the top.
Continuing to compete against elite names the following decade, Tyson’s menacing manner was still apparent in some fights, but it didn’t intimidate Evander Holyfield when the pair met in 1996.
Holyfield stopped Tyson and he was victorious the following year when Tyson bit the Atlanta man’s ear before being disqualified.
The two-weight world champion gets all the credit from Tyson when asked who his best overall opponent was.
“Holyfield,” said Tyson when speaking to The Ring in 2014.
“Great champion: chin, heart, determination, work ethic, demeanour.”
