The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live star Pollyanna McIntosh teases the possibility that Jadis reunites with another character from the flagship series in the future. During season 9, the former leader of the Scavengers forms a romantic relationship with Gabriel Stokes, something that fizzles once she almost kills him but decides to run away instead. She leaves the show when she calls in a CRM helicopter to rescue Rick, never giving her time with Gabriel a proper resolution.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, McIntosh revealed she would be interested in seeing Jadis and Gabriel reunite following The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live‘s release. The actor said that, while both characters have feelings for each other, their opposing viewpoints just wouldn’t be compatible anymore. Check out what McIntosh had to say below:
Jadis has experienced the pain of loving before. I don’t think she feels there’s a lot of place for that in the apocalypse. She would like there to be. She feels that if the CRM achieve their goals, there can be a world in which we can all go and be in love and have relationships. But as it stands, that can’t be part of her world. That’s just not going to fly with what she has to do.
I think if she and Gabriel were to meet again, she’d have a lot of explaining to do, and there are two people who felt very strongly for each other, but their worldviews are so opposing. But anything can happen in The Walking Dead, as we know. So I think one of the most wonderful things for me as a fan of it is these extraordinary arcs that the characters go on and how you can still always be surprised.
Will Jadis & Gabriel Ever See Each Other Again?
Due to a plethora of time jumps since Rick was taken by the CRM, it has been at least nine years since Jadis last interacted with Gabriel. Since then, the priest has become the foster father of Rosita’s daughter Socorro, raising the girl in Alexandria after her mother’s death. Meanwhile, the CRM member has risen in their ranks to become a warrant officer, becoming an invaluable member of the community.
Following her appearance in the main show, Jadis briefly returned in The Walking Dead: World Beyond season 2, adopting the last name Stokes. The fact she is using Gabriel’s last name indicates that, despite leaving so many years ago, she still has feelings for him. If the pair were to somehow reunite in the future, she may end up trying to make something between them work despite their vastly different lives.
However, with The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live focused on Rick and Michonne, it seems unlikely Gabriel will be returning anytime soon. Even so, it’s possible Jadis gets redeemed by helping the main duo escape the CRM, perhaps influenced by knowledge of what her former partner is doing. Since anything could happen in the zombie universe, the pair may find their way back to one another, giving their story a sense of finality.
