Dolphins Eyeing Jimmy Graham to Boost Their Elite Offense Further

In the realm of the NFL, the Miami Dolphins emerged as a formidable force in the 2023 season, boasting the league’s highest total in yards and passing yards, with their ground game also ranking impressively among the top five teams. Under the guidance of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who threw for a league-leading 4,624 yards, and the electrifying performances of wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who not only led the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards but also tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions with 13, the Dolphins showcased a powerhouse offense. The team’s scoring prowess was further bolstered by running backs Raheem Mostert and Christian McCaffrey (of the San Francisco 49ers), each finding the end zone 21 times to top the NFL charts in total touchdowns.

Despite these remarkable achievements, the Dolphins experienced a noticeable downturn towards the season’s end, culminating in a disappointing 26-7 playoff exit against the Kansas City Chiefs. This slump was noted despite Hill’s commendable effort through injury and an offensive line weakened by injuries. A recurrent theme for the franchise, late-season fades have marred otherwise stellar campaigns, regardless of the contributing factors.

Nonetheless, optimism remains high within the Dolphins’ camp, particularly with the offensive contributions of running back Jaylen Wright, who brings additional speed to an already swift Miami backfield. Furthermore, Chris Grier’s decision to secure tackle Patrick Paul in the second round of the draft underscores a commitment to reinforcing the squad. Yet, to bolster their ranks further, the Dolphins might find value in exploring the veteran free agent market.

Among potential acquisitions, tight end Jimmy Graham stands out. Returning to the NFL fold with the Saints in 2023 after a hiatus, Graham’s impact was succinct yet poignant, translating seven targets into six receptions for 39 yards, of which four were touchdowns.

Though his days of Pro Bowl glory may be behind him, Graham’s career tally of 89 touchdown receptions cannot be overlooked, especially considering the Dolphins’ lack of touchdown contributions from the tight end position in 2023. This makes the veteran an intriguing consideration for a team looking to add depth and experience to its offensive lineup.
