The Walking Dead fans in the Bay State might see zombies roaming the streets of Worcester this week, with filming of “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” season 2 happening downtown Thursday, May 2.
Filming of the spin-off series will take place on Norwich Street on Thursday, May 2 from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and Monday, May 6, from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m., according to a notice posted on business doors in the neighborhood by Stalwart Productions, LLC.
The production crew will be set up throughout the week and parking will be restricted in the area, as coordinated with the Worcester Police Department. Spokesman Lt. Sean Murtha confirmed with MassLive that “The Walking Dead: Dead City” will film in the area.
“The Walking Dead: Dead City” season 1, first aired in June 2023.
With season 2 in the works, Bay Staters can expect to see portions of the film set in the streets of Worcester as well as some exterior shots of buildings on the street.
Preparation for the film began on Thursday, April 25, and signs of the television production’s presence will be reflected in the closures and parking bans on various streets in the city — with an estimated “wrap,” date on Tuesday, May 7.
Passersby can see signs of the street’s transformation on buildings such as 8 Norwich St., which has “Salvatore New York City,” posted on it, remaining consistent with the show’s setting which takes place in Manhattan, New York.
From Monday, May 29, until Tuesday, May 7, parking bans are posted on Norwich Street between Foster and Mechanic streets, as well as on Commercial Street on the even side between 142 Commercial St. and Mechanic Street, for film preparation, shooting and wrap.
Parking bans for filming are also in effect from Thursday, May 2, until Monday, May 6, on both sides of Mechanic Street between Main and Commercial streets, as well as both sides of Commercial Street between 142 Commercial St. and Mechanic Street.
Locals can expect road closures of Norwich Street between Foster and Mechanic streets for filming on Thursday, May 2, from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m.
On May 6, parts of Norwich Street, Mechanic Street, Foster Street and Commercial Street will be closed from 5 a.m. until 7 p.m.
