Star Trek: Discovery‘s newest cast member, Elias Toufexis, shares images of season 5’s new alien characters and starship to hype up the upcoming final season. The combined WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes wreaked havoc with Paramount+’s plans to build excitement for Star Trek: Discovery season 5 throughout 2023. Now that the strikes are over, actors and creatives can finally publicly speak about struck work. In Star Trek: Discovery‘s case, anticipation is growing for the still undated premiere of the final season, which is the biggest Star Trek event Paramount+ has slated for 2024.
On Twitter/X, Elias Toufexis posted his excitement at playing L’ak, one of Star Trek: Discovery season 5’s new alien characters. Along with his partner Moll (Eve Harlow), L’ak is a dangerous outlaw hunting for Discovery season 5’s prize, which is called “the greatest treasure in the known galaxy.” Check out Elias’ post of L’ak’s starship below:
Toufexis also posted a photo of L’ak and Moll together. Possibly two couriers with past ties to Cleveland “Book” Booker (David Ayala), Moll and L’ak run afoul of Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) in footage of Star Trek: Discovery season 5 released at this past summer’s San Diego Comic-Con. Check out the image of L’ak and Moll below:

What We Know About Star Trek: Discovery Season 5
The final season of Discovery will be a galactic adventure.
Paramount+ hasn’t announced the official release date of Star Trek: Discovery season 5 yet beyond “early 2024,” but hype for the final season will likely begin soon now that the strikes are over. Only 1 trailer and 5 minutes of Discovery season 5 footage have been released since October 2022, and there hasn’t even been any official key art released yet. Regardless, we know Elias Toufexis and Eve Harlow join Discovery season 5’s cast as L’ak and Moll, and Callum Keith Rennie will play Starfleet Captain Rayner, a new antagonist to Captain Michael Burnham.
The USS Discovery’s search for “the greatest treasure in the known galaxy” signals a change to a more adventurous tone in Star Trek: Discovery season 5. Although, as director Jonathan Frakes who helmed Discovery season 5’s finale’s first half, stated, the cast and crew didn’t know until March 2023 that this would be Discovery‘s final season. reshoots were finished in the spring 2023 to create a satisfying series finale for Star Trek: Discovery. How L’ak and Moll fit into Star Trek: Discovery season 5 remains to be seen, and it’s one of many fascinating questions to be answered in Captain Michael Burnham and the USS Discovery’s final 32nd century voyages.
