Mike Tyson posted his first workout in preparation for his fight with Jake Paul and fans are concerned for the YouTuber-turned-boxer.
Mike Tyson has posted his first workout in preparation for his highly-anticipated fight with YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul on July 20. In the 10-second clip, which Tyson posted to his social media accounts, the boxing legend was seen throwing a handful of hits with speed, precision and power at various targets around the body.
At the end of the video, Tyson left off with a simple message: “It’s day 1 … the fun has just begun.” Tyson’s clip has piqued boxing fans’ interest on both X and Instagram as the video was viewed more than 200,000 since it was posted and garnered over 100,000 likes.
Upon seeing the condition Tyson is in just his first training session, fans naturally expressed their concern and wondered how the 27-year-old Paul would fare against the 57-year-old former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world at near full fitness.
“Mike at only 10% should easily win … IF not rigged as usual,” a fan wrote on Instagram, with over 1,000 likes. Another fan shared a similar sentiment: “If Tyson doesn’t win by KO it’s rigged. In no universe does Jake Paul survive.”
Most fans believe Tyson will easily defeat Paul, even in his advanced age. However, there were a subsection of fans believing the fight is more than likely just to get a hefty payday for both men, considering their fight is one of the most anticipated events of the year.
More than 80,000 fans are expected to attend the bout, which is set to take place at AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys NFL team, and will be streamed globally on Netflix. What’s more, it has been reported that the least expensive seat for the fight will cost £186.53 ($239).
Vivid Seats, a ticket retailer, has begun selling seats through its “Seat Saver” service, which allows dedicated fans early access to premium seats before they are available to the general public. Currently, standing-room tickets are on sale for £145.34 ($186) with the most expensive tickets costing fans £10,050.30 ($12,862).

On Wednesday, Paul showed off the extent of his power, landing a body blow on internet celebrity Adin Ross. The hit left Ross writhing in pain on the mat, with Paul admitting that he only used “10 per cent” of his power on the punch.
Despite Paul’s perceived power, many people, including former UFC star Chuck Liddell, believe that if Tyson truly wanted to, he could end the fight relatively quickly.
Speaking with TMZ, Liddell explained how Tyson’s power is what makes him dangerous and if the former champion is able to land a solid hit on Paul, the bout could be over as quickly as it began.
“As soon as Tyson hits him, it’s over,” Liddell said. “The last thing to go is power, last thing to go is power. If he hits him, it’s over. If you’ve seen Mike, he still hits.”
Couple Tyson’s power with the mindset he has for the fight, which his friend Zab Judah believes as being “an animal” and Paul could have another loss on his record, providing the fight is a professional one. “I personally think that the Mike Tyson, that we know – the animal, the lion, he’s going to show up,” Judah said. “That is scary. If Mike is taking this fight on, and evidently he knows exactly what he’s doing, and trust me, Mike is going to be Mike.
“When Mike gets in the ring. He hands me business. So if he took on a Jake Paul challenge, Jake Paul is going to have a problem.”
