Tyson Fury and Mike Tyson are among the greatest boxers to ever grace the ring but they were sadly born in different eras.
While it means it’s a fight that boxing fans will never get to experience, the emergence of AI and specifically ChatGPT, means fans can at least read a version of how the bout would have played out. The size advantage would be stark considering Fury is almost a foot taller than the man he was named, after as well as routinely weighing in around 50lbs heavier than him.
The supercomputer predicted the WBC heavyweight champion will keep ‘Iron Mike’ at bay in the first round with his effective jab and movement. And his control in the bout would stretch to the second round as Fury’s defence frustrates Tyson – who remains the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history.
Fury’s smothering defence didn’t stop Tyson from landing several hooks and uppercuts in the fourth round, which is all he needs sometimes to put a stop to the bout. His terrifying power is respected by the Manchester native who continues to stick to his game plan of keeping distance and utilising his footwork. Fury begins going on the offence in round five with body shots in an attempt to slow down Tyson’s intense forward pressure.
As we get to the middle of the fight, Tyson’s frustration starts to grow as he fails to get close enough to Fury to land power punches, seemingly unable to keep up with the movement of the 6ft 9in behemoth. Power punches start to be thrown in round seven – but by Fury – who targets his opponent’s head and body.
Tyson’s energy levels begin to noticeably wane in round eight, as he looks more and more fatigued and is becoming less impervious to Fury’s incoming attacks in the ninth round. Fury smells blood and connects with a powerful right hook square on Tyson’s jaw, which prompts him to stumble back, but remain on his feet.
The 11th round sees the first knockdown of the brutal bout as Fury throws a barrage of punches ending with a vicious left hook that leaves Tyson slumped on the canvas. The New Yorker uses all his grit to beat the count in the 12th round but it doesn’t look like he can survive any more danger.
Fury has just seconds left in the final round to put a visibly hurt Tyson away as the ‘The Gypsy King’ loads up a powerful right uppercut that sends Tyson to the canvas for the second time during the fight. The referee begins his count but the final blow proved too devastating as Tyson fails to get up and Fury is crowned the winner via knockout.
Remember, this is purely a hypothetical scenario, and actual outcomes in a boxing match can vary significantly due to the fighters’ physical condition, strategies, and countless other unpredictable factors.
