Fear The Walking Dead’s midseason seven finale ended with Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) declaring war on her one-time friend, Victor Strand (Colman Domingo). This war was the focus of season 7B, and it was announced that Madison Clark (Kim Dickens), Alicia’s mom, would return during this season. Did Alicia survive in Fear TWD?
There was a long gap between Alicia’s appearance in season 6 when she was locked in Teddy’s bunker and her reappearance in season 7.
Teddy wanted her to rebuild the world and she assured him she would never make it a world as he imagined, and to that, he replied, “That is what I am counting on.” He had planned to bring Alicia to this bunker ahead of time because he informed at least one of the residents that she would be joining them and ultimately lead them.
In flashbacks, viewers saw Alicia try her hardest to escape the bunker. She was not thrilled to be underground, knowing Teddy’s plans above ground. During an escape attempt, she was bitten on the arm by a walker. Knowing her fate unless she took drastic action, she amputated her arm, hoping to avoid the spread of the virus.
In the back half of season 7, Alicia reveals her arm, complete with a prosthetic made with her own arm bones, to Morgan (Lennie James). Alicia didn’t die or transform from her bite but she still battled some kind of infection and believed the virus would eventually turn her into a walker.
She also believed the undead version of Senator Vazquez would lead her to PADRE. This was very uncharacteristic of Alicia, but she needed to believe there was still something of his former self inside the reanimated version as she felt she would soon turn.
The announcement that Madison would be returning excited fans who longed for the mother/daughter reunion. But this was not to be. Actress Alycia Debnam-Carey had decided to leave the series to pursue other projects, meaning Alicia also left the group of survivors.
She started to feel better than she had in quite some time so it appears she survived. The story explained her depature from the main group, who were leaving Texas to find a new safe place to live. Alicia stayed behind to warn the people who heard her radio call promising a safe place to live at the Tower, which turned out to be unsafe.
So, like her mother before her, no body, no death. Could Alicia return? It wouldn’t be any crazier than the annoucement that Troy Otto (Daniel Sharman) will return in the final season.
In the second part of season 8, Troy does return with horrible news for Madison. He was in possession of Alicia’s prosthetic arm and tells Madison he killed her but didn’t put her down, allow her to roam as he did in Mexico after she left him for dead.
This means Alicia survived season 7, long enough to be tracked down by Troy. But did he really kill her? Many fans believe she is still alive and he is tormenting Madison. He also cut left arms off many walkers as phycological warfare against Madison who will believe the armless walkers are Alicia.
Perhaps Alicia will make an appearance before the final episode, because in Fear the Walking Dead, “No One’s Gone Until They’re Gone.”
